Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains:

This quilt depicts culture, history, traditions, and everyday living common to all mountain families between 1700 and 1900.  It includes a covered bridge, 1850's log cabin home, Clyne Angle's Country Store, Washington (one room) Schoolhouse, 1870's barn, outhouse, corncrib, springhouse, nostalgic homeplace, historic church, and Mabry Mill (most photographed mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway).

       Operation Support Our Troops
            is dedicated to our military

As a child, I can clearly remember playing in the yard one day as two men in uniform walked up to our neighbors front door to announce the death of their son who was serving in the war at Vietnam. One afternoon as I was grocery shopping, I visited with a woman who was distraught over all three of her children who were serving in the military during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. I have seen the agony and unrest that a friend experienced when her son was deployed to serve at the War on Terror. My father-in-law served in the Korean War and my father served in World War II. Inspiration for this pattern came from the sacrifice of our military and their families. I wish to express my gratitude and dedicate this pattern to our past and present troops who have unselfishly devoted their life to the military, endured financial strain, sacrificed time away from their families and risked their lives to preserve the liberty and freedom of the American people. God Bless America and protect our servicemen and women. Please keep them in your prayers.
